Comprehensive Eye Exams for Adults

We understand how it feels to see our children or grandchildren playing sports or performing in a recital. We know how it feels to be on a computer screen for eight hours. We understand how important your eyes and vision are to your everyday life. So when you are seeing one of our eye doctors in Tupelo, we do not just flip a few dials. On the contrary, we will thoroughly evaluate your visual system and eyes, beginning with our state-of-the-art ultra-wide field retinal imaging system, our NASA -derived autorefractor, and computerized lens meter. And we almost never shoot your eye with an air puff test, also known as a non-contact tonometer. Instead, we like to use a rebound tonometer to test your eye pressure, which feels like someone lightly tickling your eyelashes.

When you enter the exam room to meet on of our Tupelo Mississippi Optometrists, you will notice that we have all of the latest technology for giving you a comprehensive eye exam. Your eye doctor Tupelo Mississippi will discuss your symptoms and diagnose your conditions. Whether you are struggling with near-sightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism, or presbyopia – a condition that affects most of us after forty years old and makes it seem that our arms are too short – we have a solution for you.

Your Eyes First Optometrist Tupelo Mississippi will thoroughly and efficiently examine the health of your eyelids and eye lashes, your conjunctiva, cornea, anterior chamber, iris, crystalline lens, vitreous body, optic nerve, macula, retina, and retinal vasculature for any signs of underlying eye health issues.

Your Eyes First Optometrist Tupelo Mississippi is an expert at detecting dry eye disease, eye infections or conjunctivitis or keratitis, cataracts, vitreous floaters, macular degeneration, retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, or most any other eye disorders or diseases.

After a thorough examination of your eyes, your eye doctor at our Tupelo office will discuss his or her findings with you. We will then come up with a treatment plan to best suit your lifestyle and needs!

Eye Exams for Children

We know that 80% of learning coms through the eyes for most school-aged children. That’s why we are so serious about young eyes at Eyes First!

Our well-trained optometrists will evaluate your child’s eyes for near-sightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism, anisometropia, amblyopia, exotropia, and esotropia. We have eye doctors in Tupelo who can test for proper eye development.

After a thorough assessment, our Optometrist Tupelo Mississippi will discuss the recommended treatment plan with the care giver. Some children need glasses at an early age, but many do not. We will go over all of this with you at the conclusion of your child’s examination. Our eye doctor will also give your child lifestyle recommendations to minimize ill-effects from eye strain while reading or using a tablet, phone, or computer screen.

We were one of the first offices in Mississippi to utilize NovaSight to improve the vision in children with amblyopia or lazy eye. This technology allows children to improve their visual acuity while watching their favorite videos.

We also help to control your child’s developing myopia through various, research backed methods so that their glasses may not need to be strengthened so often. This can have a huge impact on a young person’s educational development as well as their sports performance.

Dry Eye Treatment

There are many causes of eye irritation or “dry eye.” In fact, “dry eye” is probably not a good term because many people with ocular surface disease have watery eyes! There are many factors that can affect your eye comfort. Some people don’t produce enough tears. Some people make plenty of tears, but cannot keep them on their eyes due to evaporative dry eye disease. And some people have tearing because their tear duct is blocked. Demodex is a mite that causes eye irritation. And in Mississippi, many of us also have eye allergies.

At Eyes First, your Optometrist Tupelo Mississippi will determine the root cause of your eye irritation. We will then discuss your treatment options and k=make a plan of action to get you the relief you desire.

Some of the treatments that we have had success with are artificial tears, punctal occlusion or plugs, eyelid scrubs, amniotic membrane placement, medicated eye drops, intense pulsed light, ZEST treatment, and many others!

Helping you to have clear, comfortable vision is a passion of our Optometrist Tupelo Mississippis.

Glaucoma Testing and Treatment

Glaucoma is to the eye what high blood pressure is to the heart. Glaucoma can remain hidden for years until it finally strikes and renders its victims visually impaired or even blind.

At Eyes First, our Optometrist Tupelo Mississippi will make sure that we detect any glaucoma as early as possible, so that it can be treated. Most of our patients can be treated with eye drops. There are other treatments available as well, such as selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) and combined cataract and glaucoma procedures (MIGS.) Your tupelo eye doctor will make recommendations for you, depending on your situation and the severity of your glaucoma. We really do want you to maintain your vision all the days of your life!

Diabetic Eye Exam

Have you or a loved one been diagnosed with diabetes? The American Diabetic Association recommends all people with diabetes to have a thorough retinal eye examination annually. There are some insurance companies that will send a nurse to you to take a picture of your eye. These tests are insufficient to catch many cases of diabetic rertinopathy.

Our Tupelo Mississippi Optometrists will thoroughly examine you entire retina for any early signs of retinopathy or diabetic macular edema. We can also use our electroretinogram (ERG) to measure the electrical activity of your retina. This allows your optometrist to find early diabetic damage to your retina at an even earlier stage!

We work with the best eye doctors Tupelo Mississippi to manage your condition.

Eye Injuries

Our cornea (the front window on our eyeballs) is one of the most sensitive parts of our body. If you scratch your eye or get a piece of metal or wood in your eye, you want someone who knows how to get you relief quickly so you can get back to your life!
Our Tupelo Mississippi optometrists will diagnose and treat your eye injury. Many patients feel instant relief at the end of their visit to Eyes First! We have treated injuries from grinding metal, hunting, welding, wood work, nerf guns, and even fiddle faddle popcorn in the eye!
